Chennault Park Golf Course: everything you need to know

Monroe Community Affairs Department owns and operates Chennault Park Golf Course. Since the course opened in 1975, it’s been regarded as one of the best public courses in the country. In recent years, however, the course has begun to look a little worn out. The Monroe City Council, the Monroe administration, and Mayor Jamie Mayo pledged to invest in Monroe’s once-great golf course in 2013. During the fall of 2009, the golf course and pro shop got a $500k upgrade. 

It was closed until April 1, 2010 because of the long, tough winter of 2009-2010. Nine new sand bunkers, new greens, new tee boxes, and a high-tech practice facility make this course much better than before. 

Mayor Mayo and his team have shown their commitment to this program by allocating more money for Phase 2 this spring. 

Golfers at this course put in so much work that it’s one of the best in the country. The Chennault Park Golf Course has 18 holes and is a five-minute drive from Monroe Regional Airport. Chennault Park Golf Course in Monroe is one of the best daily fee courses in the city. The golf course offers quality service and great value. 

One of Louisiana’s top ten golf courses, Chennault Park Golf Course is in a gorgeous environment. It’s one of the top 10 Louisiana golf courses, according to Golf Digest. The facility was built and upgraded in 2010 so that it can provide year-round excellent turf conditions. It’s a challenging, but fair par 72 course with a range of tee options for golfers of all abilities. There are natural fairways on the front nine of the course, but the back nine is tree-lined and tight.
